This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are bilingual learners, and most of them have been at our school since Kindergarten. As sixth graders, students have a lot of responsibility and are expected to be role models for their younger peers. They are cheerful, bright, and ready to learn individuals who crave challenge. My students value academics but are also intrigued by different cultures and diversity within the community surrounding them. In mathematics, they cheer when we solve problems, and they always ask for extra homework.

All of these students deserve to have the materials they need to be constantly challenged.

In a world in which technology is so prominent, we need more resources!

My Project

This year, my students will complete a variety of major math and Spanish projects to connect real world skills with classroom skills! However, the resources are the biggest challenge. With the right resources, students can really get into the projects and explore their creativity. We need printer toner, tri-fold display boards, hot glue and craft sticks. With these materials, my students will be have all of the resources they need to complete major projects like an architecture projects that serves as a geometry end-of-unit and identity boards that are part of a Spanish project. They will use hot glue guns and craft sticks to make model homes which are made to specific dimensions. These donations will give my students the resources they need to have a great sixth grade year.
