Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a Title I school in a city school district. In our public city school, many scholars are diverse, multiple language learners, and at-risk readers. Currently, the entire school population receives free breakfast and lunch. Many scholars are also from low-income households. However, they are warm, loving, and continually searching for ways to grow and become better each day. I am honored to teach such wonderful children.
I enjoy providing scholars a multitude of experiences to connect the curriculum and enhance their learning while promoting equitable access and allowing them to be creative and stimulate their curiosity.
My scholars are eager to learn, excel, and connect the curriculum in the school library media center. As the school librarian, I am able to reach every student in the school. I have been teaching for 19 years, and I take a great deal of pride in my work. I strive to make learning fun and engaging as I have been focusing on transdisciplinary learning to help scholars have authentic and powerful learning experiences.
My Project
We are requesting dry erase markers, paints, notebooks, and chargers for the school library. The school library is a hub of learning and activity in the school. All different groups of kids come together there to learn, hang out and pass time.
The school library is the great equalizer.
We are requesting dry erase markers for the whiteboard tables. Kids take notes and collaborate there. We need paints, notebooks, and chargers for everyday use. The chargers give quick energy to laptops that are on the brink of dying. The notebooks are useable. They save to the cloud and wipe clean. Paints can be used for lunchtime projects. Thank you for your time, consideration, and support of public school children. When you care about them, you care about the future.
