Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In a low SES school, my students struggle with life. Caring about school is not a priority; surviving is. I want to give them the desire for learning technology through STEAM projects. I want them to know that a better future is possible.
In my school, about 99% are economically disadvantaged.
These students come from various backgrounds including ELL, immigrants, and migrants. Some with low scores in math and science, I want to ensure that my students have a chance in life. Some of these students do not believe in themselves. Most of my students have change their mindset by the many opportunities that others like you have provided through DonorsChoose. In the end, some students may get to keep these based on willingness to continue and participation. Thank you!
My Project
Raspberry Pis are low-cost, high-performance computers that students use to learn, solve problems and have fun. The kits will provide an education to help my students access computing and a digital maker space. The Raspberry Pi Foundation develops free resources to help students learn about computing and how to make things with computers.
What would my students like to make today?
The short of it is that my students will create their own computer and program it (STEM: Technology & Engineering).
In the long run, they can create games, a website, music, a robot, digital art, and much more. All of this will start mainly with technology, & math. We talk about physical computing, science & engineering. And, once their curiosity is sparked, there will be no limit.
