My Students

I currently have 50 students in my reading classes. There are 25 students in each class. My students are great students who have a love for technology. They are very excited about learning, and I want to make the class interactive. The students in my classroom are a diverse group of children who come from intricate family backgrounds. I teach at a low-income school and in a classroom full of eager learners who are enthusiastic about coming to school every day!

My Project

My students need several more materials to get our Robotics Center fully equipped and functional. A critical item they need is a MacBook Air so that they don't have to keep getting up from the floor to go code or program at a PC. Students who can use a PC to program or code waste a lot of time moving to and from the floor and PC. Sometimes the three PCs we have in our classroom are being used by other students who are doing research, typing reports, taking tests, or learning basic keyboarding skills so we can't use any for robotics coding or programming.

After Hurricane Maria, I have about 12 new students who have relocated.

They deserve the same opportunity as all of their peers. If this project is funded, my students will have one more laptop in the classroom that they can use for coding and programming their EV3 Lego Mindstorm robots.

They will not have to worry about leaving the floor area and finding a PC that is not being used to make changes in the programming. With the laptop, they will be able to run their missions and make the necessary changes immediately. Eventually, the goal is to have five laptops in our classroom (one for each EV3 Lego Mindstorm kit), where each group of students will be able to have their own laptop assigned to their robot. My students will not have to worry about a PC being available.
