My school is smack dab in the middle of a diverse community. We come from a wide blend of socio-economic backgrounds but we all come together to form a cohesive and productive environment. While our staff is nothing but the best, tight budgets can keep us from providing the best resources to foster our young learners' needs.
My students are amazing young people and are poised to break through and exceed their goals, but they can use support to go even higher!
They are great readers and are capable of putting forth explosive effort with a thirst for new learning. My students come from all walks of life and we speak a combined 5 languages between my 20 students. We learn from each other every day and they deserve the best!
My Project
Our kids are awesome! As a school on a limited budget, we don't have money for things that are above and beyond the standard math, reading, etc... materials.
Programmable technology will help kids get skills that will help them as we move forward with our digital future.
Raspberry Pi is a relatively cheap computer that is totally programmable by students with programming languages that are accessible and fun. They can then use those programming skills to make projects that explore skills that will give them a leg up when it comes to computer science and careers that will be needed in our modern economy.
Many of our students would otherwise not have access to authentic tools that would have a real world application. This gives kids a chance to use real tools.
