I serve a student population that is widely diverse, made up of mostly minorities. We are an elementary school that serves many different minority populations. I have English language learners from a variety of different cultural backgrounds. However, the common thread through all of our students is that they want to learn and want to achieve. They are adventurous and engaged in the learning process.
My students are awesome kids and deserve the same opportunities as all other students.
We are a Title I school and many of our students do not have easy access to technology in their home. This would indeed benefit them in many ways. They all love technology and light up when they know the lesson will be somehow connected to technology. It raises the engagement level up 95%.
We could turn our labs paperless with two touch screen laptops. Students are bored by paper lab write-ups. Many of them lose the paper before they can finish the lab write-up. Students could follow lab instructions and illustrations from the touch screen computer and could write their lab notes directly on the device.
Touch Screen Laptops will help make lab write-ups more fun and engaging for my students.
Students could write notes, add data charts, graphs, and diagrams directly on the lab template. It will also allow for collaboration among lab groups. This technology would bring about differentiated instruction for the students who are more kinesthetic.
This will also help those students who were absent during a lab to still experience the content digitally or in a make-up lab scenario supported by the technology. Having a couple of touch screen computers in the classroom will open up a new world of learning for my students.
