Professional Development in Literacy & Mindfulness

I need items to help with my professional development as a teacher and to introduce new strategies. I need books for professional development in both literacy and in mindfulness education.

My Students

The NMLSD serves approximately 671 students. The district is described as a seven square mile area that tends to be rural with an Appalachian culture in southwest Ohio. With a decline in revenue, the NMLSD is fourth poorest in Ohio's school systems.

The NMLSD may be small, but it is with purpose and intent that there will be a turn-around with a new focus of administration and staff.

This is a community in which the majority of the residents live below 200% of the federal poverty level. In addition, 96% of the students are economically disadvantaged and are eligible for the free/reduced lunch program.

My Project

These books are for professional development. The books include strategies on "Notice and Note," reading and writing strategy books by Jennifer Serrevallo, and others.

I need books for professional development in both literacy and in mindfulness education.

It has been many years since I have been able to update my professional development library. I have become more interested in the use of practicing mindfulness and how that can lead to a better growth mindset and behavior problems both in and out of the classroom.

I know that if I am able to get these professional development books, I can improve myself as a teacher.
