This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students I serve are in a low-income/high poverty school district. Our students are faced with many challenges both in and out of school. Being a School Social Worker I work very hard to help minimize these challenges so that each student can come to school prepared and receive the education they deserve. These challenges can include physical, emotional, or economic problems. It is my job to help them succeed and to do this I want to increase my knowledge around specific topics to help me better serve them.
My Project
I am looking for personal development books/resources to be donated so that I can increase my knowledge as a School Social Worker and better serve our students! I have learned so much this first year as a School Social Worker but I do not want that learning to stop. I am dedicated to spending my summer researching/ enhancing my professional knowledge so that I can come back next school year with evidence-based interventions and research to implement at our school.
Thank you so much for your support and help getting these materials to help better serve our students!
Some of the materials I am looking for include: An Essential Guide to Improving Attendance (attendance and truancy is a huge part of my job), Group Counseling Activities (for both small group and classroom activities), Courageous Conversations About Race, Ready...Set...RELAX (I love this program! Very helpful with teaching students mindfulness and calming down), and more! With your help, I can achieve this goal of having more resources available.
