This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are an urban high school that has a lack of necessary materials and resources for our students to thrive. Our neighborhood is high poverty and we are considered to be one of the most challenging schools in our area. We have serious attendance problems and many students who are not engaged in learning.

I have taught here for eighteen years and enjoy the creative spirit of my students.

Over the years, I have had the pleasure of seeing my students discover talents they never knew they had. I strive to expose them to as many diversified, artistic experiences as I can.

At this point in the year, my students have acquired skills in hand building with clay and are now enjoying throwing on the potter's wheel. Working on the wheel is fun, fascinating, and engaging. I want to keep the momentum going.

My Project

We are about to enter school and will welcome some students back into the classrooms as we execute a hybrid model. In this time of Covid-19, there is an emphasis on socially distancing and restricting the movement of students and staff around the building.

These items can be kept conveniently in the classroom and will eliminate the students' need to go to the nurses office.

The product will need to packed individually for distribution to students. Having the band aids available to students for a minor scratch or to replace one will be convenient for students.
