I'm the Journalism / Media Productions teacher in a small town in Central Missouri. I have the immense pleasure of teaching the most amazing students. Many come to school to learn, but most come to school to be loved by our teachers in my district. I love my job because it allows me to be a positive role model for our students and show them that with hard work and perseverance, they can rise above and achieve their goals. I am inspired by my students every single day and am thankful they keep me up to date on the latest dance moves and memes. My Media Productions students love to express themselves creatively through journalism, video production, and photography. They are the most generous, loving students and I want to provide them with classroom technology and equipment that fully supports our program's growth.
My Project
These materials would give my growing Media Productions program, which includes News Writing, Photography, and Yearbook classes, an additional Nikon DSLR camera set that comes with a lot of great equipment: extra lenses, lighting materials, an SD card, and a tripod.
Currently, Media Productions students are 3:1 to DSLR cameras, so each additional camera awards students more individual practice time.
I have also asked for several highly-rated photography reference books for students to read as they learn new photography skills and techniques. These books also provide me, as the teacher, with a great way to assess students' understanding of the skills they learn throughout the year.
