This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love how engaged my students are when they're working with hands-on activities and I try to provide them a variety of types throughout the year. I think clay would be a fun addition to the different craft materials I have for them to use. I know being able to model certain things will help a lot of students learn things that are more easily observed than read or drawn and the process of piecing their model together will help reinforce the topic so they can remember.

Playing with clay is something almost all students love!

This project is for a variety of air-dry and no-dry clay and the tools necessary to construct models with the clay. My students will be able to model cell and virus interactions, cell organelles, planets, geologic landforms, different types of rivers, DNA, nucleotide pairs, and so many other topics. They can even make parts of a process and use them to illustrate processes like photosynthesis, protein synthesis, retrograde orbits, seasons... there isn't a topic I can think of where some sort of modeling wouldn't help.

I'm really looking forward to seeing my students' faces when they see the clay and tools, and realize they get to express their creativity in such a fun way.
