Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Expressive arts—such as drawing, painting, writing, and crafting—offer students powerful ways to explore and process emotions that can be difficult to express through words alone. Many of our students experience stress, anxiety, grief, or trauma, and traditional talk therapy isn't always the most effective first step. Through creative outlets, students can safely externalize their feelings, gain insight, and begin processing in a way that feels natural and non-threatening.

At our school, we incorporate expressive arts into both individual counseling and group sessions to support students' emotional well-being.

Whether it’s a quiet moment for a student to draw their feelings during a one-on-one session, or a group activity centered around self-expression and connection, these tools help us create safe, supportive spaces. The items we’re requesting will allow us to offer consistent, engaging opportunities for students to express themselves, regulate their emotions, and build the skills they need to thrive—both in school and beyond.
