Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
There are a few projects to still conquer as we move through this school year. Your help will support these projects!
As I began preparing for a new group of students and classroom; visions of student math and science based hands-on experiences flooded my choices.
This year, we have focused on building our background with the engineering process, working as a team and having fun together, while learning from each other.
I would appreciate support with creating STEAM boxes and procuring math manipulatives/learning tools, to have reusable supplies at hand in order to continue building collaboration, imagination, creativity and student background. These boxes will allow for students to have more available materials at hand while working together through the engineering process.
The diverse group of learners has limited unguided experiences with explorations in building, solving problems and collaborating through the engineer process. To this point all experiences have been teacher guided. So the need for independent exploration with problem solving is the next step. The STEAM boxes would offer students more partner-independent engineering opportunities, as there are task cards with scenarios to spark the build.
My Project
This year, we have focused on building our background with the engineering process, the asked for resources will allow us to extend our knowledge by building upon experiences through creating models. The building resources will allow students to design, build and test their plans through hands on models.

The building resources roller coasters, levers and pulleys, brain busters and structure sets will allow students to have more available materials at hand while learning together through the engineering process and exploring their problem solving skills. We have weekly STEAM with specific tasks; building bridges, airplanes, towers and so forth to becoming better problem solvers and learn from others. The roller coaster building sets will challenge the students to apply their learning about force and motion. While the structure sets, along with math and geometry sets will allow for the students to use and extend their geometry knowledge. The projection camera will make it possible for students to showcase their challenges, new learning and opportunities.
