My Students

My students are special because they blossom with imagination. I work in an inner city school system with students whose eyes light up when they are learning.

Do you remember when you were younger and you would just be creative?

You may have built something in your basement or taken apart something because you were curious what it did. I want to give that opportunity to my students. All students should have the opportunity to be the next innovator. You never know who is going to create the next new piece of technology. It could be a 10 year old kid.

My Project

We have been trying to use Bee-Bots in the classroom, but our number one problem is we do not have enough. It is very hard to tell kindergarten kids that we need to break into groups of five and share one Bee-Bot. My hope is that through wonderful people like you I am going to slowly build up the Bee-Bots in my classroom. We use Bee-Bots not just for one project, but throughout the entire year to teach many different core subjects along with how to program. The students will learn to program the Bee-Bots to dance, to count, to learn sequencing, and the list goes on. The students are always very engaged in their learning and want to use them as much as they can, but can get frustrated when there is not enough. My hope is that with your support I can slowly build up enough so that we can partner students up and they can really grow with the use of the Bee-Bots. The students are problem solving as they are trying to find the correct path to get to an answer. They are learning what an algorithm is and are able to apply an algorithm to the Bee-bots. The students are learning to collaborate to help solve a problem. There are so many skills they are learning with this one device. These devices do not just stay in one grade, but we do use them with grades 1 and 2 for specific projects. Please think about supporting us and helping to make my students problem solvers of the future.
