My Students

Most of my students lack the supplies needed on a daily basis. I am consistently giving out pencils, binders, and paper. However, my class goes beyond using just paper and pencil. My students enjoy creating and showing off all they have learned. This project will help cultivate that desire.

My students are 8th graders from a low-income district in North Carolina.

They are hard working, enjoy working together, funny, and energetic. They find math fun but difficult at times. They have dreams of being doctors, lawyers, soldiers, teachers, architects, and much more. They are diverse culturally, racially, and economically. They attend a school with an inspired staff who love teaching and are constantly creating new and innovative ways to inspire students.

My Project

My students need materials to complete a project. These materials include graph paper, construction paper, glue, and markers. As well as batteries and a stapler. The resources requested are materials needed for a specific project but will also be used throughout the year. Math can be much more engaging by allowing students to create diagrams, graphic organizers, or posters. These materials will allow students to do just that. Students will use the materials to create a 3 part project that includes explaining how to graph a line, a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting linear and non linear equations, as well as writing a letter to 7th grade students explaining what they have learned so far in 8th grade math.

By donating to this project you will help provide students the materials needed to complete a higher order thinking and rigorous project.

My students lack the materials needed to complete this project but enjoy completing it. This project is a great way for students to share how much they have learned on a very important topic.
