it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are energetic, curious, and hardworking. They ask thoughtful questions to understand the “whys” of math and push themselves to overcome the academic and emotional hurdles of encountering ideas they don’t initially understand. After two years of learning online, they are craving opportunities for hands-on activities and ways to see their math learning in action.
The materials I am requesting will make it possible for students to design, create, and test probability-based games and host a carnival for our school.
In addition to being fun, the carnival will be a learning opportunity for students. Before the event, they will calculate the theoretical probability of winning their game and during the carnival they will keep track of how many people actually win to compare their probabilistic prediction to the real-world results. They will be doing REAL math in the REAL world while also having fun!
