This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am fortunate enough to teach a dynamic group of freshman students in Algebra 1. My students are creative, thoughtful, and full of so much potential! I love to create a classroom environment where students are willing to take academic risks and push themselves to be better. Our content goes beyond just learning math. We are learning how to be critical thinkers and responsible decision makers.

My students face a number of challenges outside of the classroom that can make school hard.

I want to provide my students with prizes and incentives to work hard in school. Freshman year is a critical year in terms of retention and drop-out rates for students. It is my goal that the students I support as freshman will graduate in four years.

My Project

Thank you so much for your interest in supporting my classroom. As a teacher, there is so much I would love to do for my students, but it becomes expensive to purchase these items using my own money. I am requesting stress toys and snacks such as granola bars. I can promise you that anything you can contribute will go directly to the students in my classroom to help them feel comfortable and supported in school. I know the impact small things can have on student's learning. They deserve an environment where they can be recognized for their hard work!
