My classroom is the home away from home to our 2nd grade ESL students. These students all receive free lunch and some are even refugees, but you would never be able to tell of the barriers they are facing when they're in my classroom working hard and soaking in new learning.
My students are a diverse bunch of bright and excited students who are eager and ready to learn.
Many of these students come to my classroom with low reading skills or sometimes even no English at all, and I see them facing many challenges. Even so, they are still happy, inquisitive children who deserve to have the same opportunities as all other students. Because of this, I am looking to provide my students with fun prizes that will help reward them for meeting their goals and/or exhibiting positive behaviors in the classroom.
With your help through donations, my students will be able to enjoy exciting and fun rewards of their choosing for when they meet their personal and academic goals and/or when they show positive behavior in and out of the classroom.
Also, included in this project are books that we need for our Rooted in Reading program.
My Project
My students are hard workers who like to set goals for themselves, both personal and academic. The prizes will help to motivate and reward my students for meeting their goals. Also, in my cart are books that go along with the Rooted in Reading program that we are currently using for reading, writing, grammar, and some drawing fun.
By actually having these books available, students will be able to reread their favorite stories.
After reading these stories we will use them and analyze them for specific lessons. We will also use them as mentor texts for writing lessons and grammar lessons.
