My Students
My 5th grade students are always ready for an adventure and always ready to learn. They come from many different backgrounds, each with their own unique challenges. On a daily basis, my students enthusiastically meet those challenges. They inspire me with their strengths and willingness to learn. They are always looking to share their newly acquired knowledge with others around them.
Many of these students are looking to the future and careers in technology.
They've discovered that learning and working with technology can be fun as well as informative. These student stars really know how to shine!
My Project
The California Healthy Youth Act requires that 5th grade students receive age-appropriate instruction about puberty, relationships, and sexual health education. Help us adapt to teach this curriculum via distance learning.
This school year is unlike any other we've experienced.
Our students are learning from home and still must receive comprehensive health instruction that deals with the sensitive subjects mentioned above. Our students are at an age when so many things already make them feel self-conscious and vulnerable. We do not want our health curriculum to be one more of those things. I want to provide these headphones to our fifth graders in order to afford them with privacy and comfort while navigating this subject matter from their homes and the common areas within.
These headphones will allow students to receive instruction in these essential subjects while helping to minimize their embarrassment. They will also protect our students' younger siblings from exposure to subjects that are not age appropriate.
