My students need printmaking materials including ink, brayers and linoleum cutters for art class because it's an art form they have never tried before and would really like too!
My eager, young artists haven't had the opportunity to really explore what visual art has to offer them. I'm planning a big year for them!
My students are just the greatest.
They're articulate, funny, and so incredible to work with because they always want to know more. I can't keep up with their requests for extra credit! I also have a dedicated group who join me every week for art club. I look forward to going to work because of them.
My Project
These resources I'm requesting will be used for a printmaking project. We don't have any printmaking materials so I'm asking for the basics: printing inks, a classroom starter pack, some extra brayers, linoleum cutters, and bench hooks. My students have never tried printmaking before and I know they will love it. I've developed an entire unit around printmaking and we will explore a variety of methods. I guarantee they will become addicted!
The bigger picture is this: my school primarily uses Project Based Learning to give our students real world experiences.
In my class my students are putting together our first art show and they are in complete control. Not only are they making the artwork but they are also curating the show and advertising it as well. This printmaking unit is but one aspect of the whole year.
