My Students

Watching your art come to life in new and exciting ways is what we strive for every day in kindergarten! My students need block printing supplies to practice their awesome printmaking skills! With these supplies, we plan to embark on a close study of animals and their habitats. Students will practice drawing their chosen animal and eventually get to make their own block print!

My students are from an amazingly diverse community in Berkeley, California.

As kindergartners, they love to learn through art and their imaginations! They are incredibly close observers of the world around them. By studying animals and their habitats through the lens of both a scientist and an artist, we hope to inspire a lifelong love of and interest in nature!

My Project

The students will use the linocutters to create a block print of an animal of their choice. The full project is an inquiry in to science, art and iteration. Through the drafting process, students will learn to look at nature like a scientist to notice small details. They will create multiple drawing drafts and, eventually, a block print to memorialize their work!

Learning through art can bring any subject to life.

Help us to enliven our science curriculum by teaching our students how scientists have a lot in common with artists and that artists have a lot in common with scientists! This project will help them to develop a passion for inquiry and the natural world while helping them to build visual arts skills and exposure to different art mediums.
