My students are an amazing group of makers and creators! This year will be their first year experiencing a STEM Lab at school. For some students, this will be their first time using robotics, learning to code, and creating using online tools!
The STEM Lab is a place where ALL students can feel safe to try new ideas, create new things, and learn from their failures!
For this reason, it is important for the STEM Lab to have a diverse collection of technology and makerspace materials available for students to use. With these materials, the possibilities will be endless!
My Project
Earlier this year I introduced my students to the wonderful world of 3D printing. What began as a few week unit has turned into a largescale project where the students are working to design and print items that will be used to improve others' lives! Some students have chosen to print tactile materials for students in our district who are visually impaired. Others have reached out to local nursing homes to see if they can design and print for elderly residents. Others are looking to solve problems on our own campus.
With a second 3D printer, we will be able to make their community impact project come to life!
I am incredibly proud of the thought and effort they are putting into their designs and would like to eventually create a 3D printing club where students can continue to positively impact others!
