Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Title I school in Los Angeles, California. We are a Leader in Me school. My class is made up of 24 enthusiastic and sweet students. They are motivated and excited to learn.

They love to be problem solvers and overcome any challenges they face.

At our school, we strive to make our students thinkers, leaders, and change-makers. I want to provide resources that will help my students thrive. Most of all, I want them to develop a love of learning.

My Project

My students are working hard to meet the California Common Core Standards, especially in math. As a focus, we are working on solving word problems while explaining the thinking process both in writing and verbally. I want my students to connect problem solving to real world situations. They will be working with solving problems about money. They will be adding, subtracting and multiplying money with word problems to learn about financial literacy. It would be wonderful if my students could have access to many word problem worksheets as practice. If my students could create their own word problems, print them out, and have others solve them, it would be more motivational and rewarding!

My students need ample practice in math with word problems and the Brother Wireless Color Laser Printer will provide them the chance to practice countless scenarios.

My students also need lots of practice using money to prepare them for the Smarted Balanced assessment, and the ability to print their work will help them. I will also use the printer to make visual posters for them to reference and use for math writing.
