My Students

My students are from varying backgrounds. Some students are from farming backgrounds, and some are from city backgrounds. Each group of students presents its own set of challenges.

In our agriculture department, we try to reach everyone through hands-on education.

Being in an area with a small budget, everybody works hard to do their part in getting the hands-on manipulatives we need. As the students show interest in subjects in our classes, they often ask to expand on them. When students want to learn, they often learn faster and retain more for future use.

My Project

Our students were awarded a laptop cart with 24 laptops in it for our agriculture classroom. The only thing that was left off was the printer. As of right now, the students have to leave the room to be able to print anything that they are working on. They need to be able to work in the classroom without having to leave. More time in the classroom means more active learning time. A student who is working on an Agriscience Fair research project may have to leave the room multiple times to be able to print the paper. If we can solve this with a printer, things will move faster.

Being able to print documents in the classroom will save many lost minutes of class time by having to go to the library.

More classroom time can be utilized by having the technology in the classroom to be able to totally finish projects from the laptop cart.
