Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

For the last two years, we have made cards for our local veteran's hospital. Do to cutbacks in my budget, the students use regular copy paper for their cards and crayons and markers. The cards are very cute and much appreciated, but I would love to have the budget to get real cards we can print on and make more professional looking cards. I would like to teach the students the art of making a print and using the correct tools to do so. Therefore, I have put in a request for foam printing blocks for the younger students, gelli plates for monoprints, and soft-kut plates for the older students. I would also like to get some lino-cutters for the older students to carve a Veteran's day card with. I also need some paint for the monoprints, and some sanguine conte to make tracing paper for the soft-kut printing blocks. I think my students would love the experience of making real looking cards for our local Veteran's!
