Being able to relate with others and share stories of their lost loved ones has made a positive impact on our students! The grief group had several age levels, so they were able to relate with one another in a new kind of way. Students who would not normally interact had an opportunity to see and hear that they are not alone in their grief. The older students could then serve as mentors for the younger ones and learn different ways to describe their grief. This has an added benefit of helping them process their grief.\r\n\r\nThe individual student was so happy to be able to make a tangible reminder of their lost loved one. The wide variety of beads allowed the student to work through some tough memories and find the happy ones. The student wears the bracelet to school so they can self-manage the smaller waves of grief, and self-refers to the counseling office to read one of the grief books or journals to work through the challenging moments. I am thankful for these items and I know I will continue to help future students navigate their personal journeys through grief.","fullyFundedDate":1749736457229,"projectUrl":"project/the-grief-journey/9303283/","projectTitle":"The Grief Journey","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lora","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9230735"},{"teacherId":9218622,"projectId":9223905,"letterContent":"When the new science and history materials arrived, my 5th graders were absolutely thrilled! Many of my students come from underprivileged backgrounds, and some have never used hands-on learning kits before. The excitement and joy on their faces as they opened the boxes was priceless. It was a wonderful moment of curiosity and teamwork that reminded me just how powerful these resources can be. We quickly put the materials to use in both science and history. In science, students worked in small groups to design and build their own ecosystems. Since that is what we were learning about at the time in Life Science. They researched the plants that would live in their environments, and proudly presented their live finished ecosystems to the class. Watching them collaborate and problem-solve was inspiring; they truly felt like young scientists exploring the natural world.\r\n\r\nIn history, we used the supplies to create colorful poster board projects about the 13 Colonies. Each group researched its region and displayed important facts about the geography, economy, and daily life of the colonists. These projects helped my students better understand how people lived in the early days of America while building skills in teamwork, organization, and creativity.\r\n\r\nNext week, we'll start using some of the remaining materials to begin researching our American Revolution projects. My students are already talking about the ideas they want to bring to life, and I can't wait to see their enthusiasm continue to grow. Thanks to your generosity, my classroom has become a space filled with discovery, excitement, and hands-on learning. You've allowed my students to learn in ways that make history and science come alive, and we are so grateful for your support!","fullyFundedDate":1746786116617,"projectUrl":"project/the-american-revolution-force-in-motio/9223905/","projectTitle":"The American Revolution & Force in Motion","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Crisp","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9218622_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y484&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743630472090","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9218622"},{"teacherId":10174484,"projectId":9586363,"letterContent":"We are deeply grateful for your generous donation to our after-school program. The students love to play in the sand. The sand tray has helped many students be able to open up and speak more about their lives and situations while I am working with them in sessions. The kinetic sand is also a great tool for this, mostly during unstructured and \"as needed\" sessions for students with immediate need.\r\n\r\nThe sensory tools have supplemented what I already have in my classroom in new ways. Students love coming in and seeing the textured circles so they have a \"fidget\" while they sit in the quiet area to decompress. Students are also always excited to see the weighted sloth in my comfy chair and they know it is available to use when they need and extra hand to regulate.\r\n\r\nThe books are also a great help! I am able to use information from the same books I trained with to supplement sessions with students. With the teacher shortage our country is facing, our small rural school is trying the team teaching model. We have combined 1st and 2nd grade and have 40 students altogether. Our classroom was in great need of a system to help us organize papers going home in a simple way. We were giving packets of papers to students individually, and ensuring they put them in their backpacks. This system took too much time and was not beneficial to ensuring we used our time wisely. This is why we asked for the mailbox system. \r\n\r\nThe mailbox system has made sending papers home so much easier and saves a lot of time. When we first set them up in the classroom, the kids were all very curious about what they were and how we were going to use them. They were also excited to have their own mailbox, because getting mail is fun! Students use their executive functioning skills by checking their mailbox daily. They know that if they have mail, they need to put it in their backpack immediately. So instead of us handing out packets of paper to each student and watching to make sure they put it in their backpack, the students have taken on the responsibility to check their mail and take it home. \r\n\r\nWe are all so grateful that the mailboxes were purchased for us! We will continue to use them for many years to come. Thank you for helping make our students more responsible and allowing us to utilize our teaching time to ensure all students are getting the best education available to them.","fullyFundedDate":1727462991881,"projectUrl":"project/consistent-parent-communication/8577085/","projectTitle":"Consistent Parent Communication","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Camilla","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9227350_orig.jpg?crop=2448,2448,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1693112943154","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/camillaromero"},{"teacherId":532493,"projectId":3123332,"letterContent":"Students at Peakview school had very few books for middle school students.
