Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 34 preschoolers living in a diverse neighborhood who attend a large Title I public school within an even larger school system. The majority of my students are English Language Learners, and a variety of beautiful languages are heard throughout the day in our class. At 3, 4, and 5 years of age, my preschool classroom is their first time being in an educational environment with other students.
It is a time of many proud "firsts" and remarkable moments of questioning, discovery, and exploration.
My students are very verbal, social, and have an unbridled passion for trying new things and solving problems. Preschool is a time to nurture natural wonder and curiosity and to set the foundations for skills and habits that will follow my students as they continue with their educational experiences.
I am always looking for new ways to feed my students' interests. I change the materials and layout of my classroom throughout the year to provide them with the best learning environment that caters to their interests. I cherish my role as an educator in supporting my students on all of their learning paths!
My Project
In my classroom, I have a cantankerous black & white printer that requires some coaxing to print a page or two. Having this Epson Ecotank color printer in my classroom will provide my students with a reliable printing resource for me to share with them! Reviews of the Ecotank states that its ink is designed to last up to TWO YEARS before needing replenishing!
I have researched different classroom printers, and I was most enticed about the Ecotank's long-lasting printing capability, that could stretch to serve the imaginations of my active preschoolers.
Summer break is a time to rest and recharge - and in my case, I am looking for new activities and approaches to share with my students. I would love to be able to share more technology with my students, including printing student-generated materials like class books or their own work. I would also use this printer to print resources to share with my students in the classroom, as well as projects or activities for students to take home and work on with their families.
Finally, I make frequent runs to the Walgreens Photo Center each month, as I document my students' work in the classroom and display their pictures throughout the room - having this color printer would allow me to display their work more immediately and more cost-effectively. My students love seeing themselves, and many use these pictures as ways to recollect and talk about shared experiences.
Thank you so much for your interest in my students and our work together!
