This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are ages 7-9 in an integrated second grade class. They have varied degrees of ability. Overall, in addition to poor social skills and limited resources, our most prevalent weakness is letter identification and reading and writing. My students struggle with letter sound correspondence, making identification of familiar words difficult. Daily reading and writing is essential to help my students grow their literacy abilities. To support their reading and writing abilities, a classroom color copier would allow their writing projects to come alive! Students with special needs learn at varying rates and having access to multi-media platforms is essential!
My Project
Having a class computer that is connected to a printer will allow students to share their work with peers in a timely fashion! As the class teacher, opportunities for making class copies of needed materials is essential for daily activities. We are a school that does not have ample supply of resources for each student. Often, teachers are forced to use outside components to ensure that each student has what they need to complete their work. A class copier would also allow students to see their work in print and ready for display in the classroom and in the hallway.
