My Project

I'm seeking funding to acquire Gelli plates, a versatile printing medium. Gelli plates will provide students with a unique and accessible way to explore printmaking.

This project aims to foster student creativity, develop their understanding of printmaking processes, and encourage experimentation with mixed media art forms.

My students come from diverse backgrounds and possess a wide range of artistic abilities. However, they all share a common enthusiasm for creative exploration. Many students haven't had the opportunity to experience printmaking, and Gelli plates offer a beginner-friendly introduction to this exciting art form. This project caters to all learning styles, allowing kinesthetic learners to engage in a hands-on process, while visual learners can explore color combinations and patterns.

Gelli plates are reusable gelatin-based printing surfaces that allow for a wide range of creative possibilities. Students will be able to experiment with Printmaking Techniques. Gelli plates offer a safe and accessible way to learn basic printmaking techniques like monoprinting and collage printing. Students can create unique prints by adding textures, stencils, and found objects to the plate. Students will develop creativity and problem-solving skills. Gelli printing encourages experimentation and exploration. Students will learn to manipulate materials and troubleshoot printing issues, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Gelli prints can be used as backgrounds for other art projects, encouraging students to explore mixed media techniques and create visually stunning artwork.

The project goal is to introduce students to the fundamentals of printmaking, provide opportunities for creative exploration and experimentation, develop students' understanding of color, texture, and pattern and encourage students to create artwork that reflects their individuality.

The incorporation of Gelli plates into our art curriculum will provide students with a valuable and engaging learning experience. This project will not only nurture their creativity but also equip them with new artistic skills and techniques.
