Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are bright preschoolers and kindergartners with special needs. They are three to five years old with different disabilities including Autism, speech or language impairment, health impairment, Cerebral Palsy, and visually impairment.
My students are from low-income families and almost all are English language learners.
Some have just arrived in the United States from Mexico with parents who do not speak English. Despite the many challenges they face, they come ready each day to work and play with the most positive attitudes.
It has been a true blessing to watch my students learn and grow. Their determination and eagerness to learn are what fuels me. These young scholars amaze me every single day with their big hearts! A day in our classroom consists of enthusiasm, energy, and excitement. Every accomplishment, big or small, is celebrated!
My Project
As an early childhood educator, I will always try my best to provide plenty of opportunities and resources to enrich my students’ experience in school. We currently do not have a printer in our classroom. We have access to technology but have to walk across campus to print our materials. A printer with extra ink in the classroom would make such a huge difference in our learning and save us so much time! We will be even more productive as my students learn new skills in technology.
As I prepare my young students for kindergarten, we have been learning so much about STEM through books, visuals, and worksheets.
There are many fun activities that can be found online. We can have access to so many activities with a printer in the classroom including learning to sequence the life cycle of a chicken through cutting and pasting, creating mini books relating to our weekly themes, and so much more. My students have come to really enjoy these types of worksheet activities with daily practice. In addition to the work we will be doing in the class, I’d like to be able to reinforce these skills at home by providing parents with booklets.
My students are creative. They love to draw and color on their iPads. I would love to print their unique artwork and display it on our walls. I want my students to always feel proud of their hard work. Furthermore, learning to use iPads and printing their own work will help them be more independent and comfortable with technology as they get older.
We would greatly appreciate your support in bringing this project to life!
