My Students

"If you don't have the time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that." -Stephen King By the end of the school year, I want my students to become proficient writers and start planning their educational future.

I have the most wonderful 5th grade class.

They are students with various learning disabilities. Their disabilities range from FAS, TBI, ADHD, and Memory, however, they are the hardest working students I've ever had. Even when they begin to lose focus they're always trying their best. My students come from low economic households. Our school is a Title I school, where most students receive free school lunch. We do not have the resources to provide all necessary technology materials. I strive each day to make a difference in my students' lives and tell them the world is a better place because they are in it.

My Project

My students are striving to become proficient readers and writers. They currently use laptops to publish their writing. However, we do not have a printer available to print out their published work. Special needs students need to see a tangible copy of their written work. This will also help them to gain confidence in their writing. Having a printer available in our classroom, will allow my students to see their writing come to life!

This project will help my students to become proficient writers and prepare them for middle school.

Publishing their own writing, will help them to become critical thinkers, and strategic readers and writers. Who knows, I may have a future famous author in my class!
