Printing Our Knowledge

My students need a laser printer and toner to print information, charts, data, etc. when independently using technology in our classroom.

My Students

Students in my classroom come from 15 different Native American tribes in South Dakota, North Dakota and Nebraska. They live nine months of every year at school, with little to no contact with their families. They come from a variety of home lives but are at our school with the hope of a brighter future. Many of my students have become accustomed to not having the newest resources or technology, but they still persevere.

Within a few months of being in my classroom, they learn that they can achieve things that many thought they never would.

They are reading harder books (sometimes even their first chapter book), doing harder math problems, and able to do their own research on things that interest them.

My Project

We are requesting a laser color all-in-one printer and one set of replacement toner. Throughout this school year we have worked hard to get enough technology in my classroom for us to be able to effectively use it on a daily basis. Now that we are there, many times we have wished that we had a printer in our classroom.

Our classroom is in a modular classroom quite a distance from the community printers.

By having one in our classroom we would be able to more effectively use resources we find or create immediately rather than waiting until there is a break when they can be retrieved.
