Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are in a Spanish Dual Language program. The Dual Language program is an additive program where students add a second language. We are a Title I school where all students qualify for free meals. I have an amazing group of students who come to school ready and eager to learn. They follow our ethos of being respectful, responsible, and scholarly. My students are preparing for the future by learning a new language.
My classroom allows students of different nationalities and backgrounds to learn in two languages.
That is no easy task and it requires highly engaging lessons with language supports. There are students who are developing their Spanish Language skills. There are also students who are developing their English Language skills.
My students have developed an understanding that they can rely on their native language to help them develop a second language. As a teacher, I work hard to make those connections explicit.
My Project
I’m excited to introduce my third grade students to publishing their written work in our classroom computers. Currently, my students publish their work in written form only. A printer will give my students the opportunity to learn word processing skills and improve their typing skills.
My students will be preparing for the future by printing their writing.
Im interested in having my students revise and edit their work using technology. Eventually, they will print when they are ready to do so.
My students will also learn how to do online research and print information that they will need for class projects.
