Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a diverse population of students ranging from honors, special education, and English Language Learners who come from many different cultural backgrounds and educational needs. We are a Title I school which means that students come from many different social and economic circumstances. My students are challenged to adjust to different settings as the pandemic has affected their normal education.
Elmhurst was a very hard hit area from the start and still remains to be a very hard place for the students to be to fully adjust and we must not only focus on math skills but socio-emotional as well.
My students are motivated to succeed. They take pride in their education and work hard to thrive in my math class. We talk like scholars, write like experts, think like innovators, and live like leaders.
My Project
Help me give my students the ability to print and have the tools needed for math success. As a fully remote teacher, teaching fully remote students, I feel my students need socio-emotional support more than ever. Being able to print different graphic organizers or handouts to help support my student's needs is very important during these hard times. Having a color printer would very much aid me in displaying work vividly, and aiding in students self-esteem during this remote year. While learning remotely is difficult, students would benefit from seeing printed work while using remote learning technologies.

This printer will help our students be successful during these hard times. While we are all fully remote, I still want to be able to provide my students sometimes with a template or graphic organizer to help them with a math lesson like solving equations and inequalities. The template will help provide them step by step directions and the socio-emotional support needed to not stress and be successful at the math topic. The extra ink will allow us to continue to have the necessary tools to print in color throughout the school year. The whiteboard will allow me to be successful at live teaching during this time and to show examples during our google meet sessions. I will also use the whiteboard to show my students inspirational quotes in the background during our google meets.
