My students need hands-on learning materials that are easily adapted to meet the needs of all students.
This project expired on August 10, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My classroom is a four/five year old VPK/Inclusion classroom. Many of the students have disabilities consisting of intellectually disabled, autism spectrum disordered, language impaired, and developmentally delayed. Some of the students in my class are acquiring English as a Second Language. As a result, all students require hands on learning materials to help them learn.
My students are little sponges!
They soak up all new concepts presented to them. They are inquisitive and are always asking questions. They keep me on my toes. Their enthusiasm is contagious!
The students in my class work on readiness activities that target specific skills in the areas of pre-literacy and math. These skills include: letter/sound identification, counting practice, numeral identification, and adding/subtracting with manipulatives. I have created numerous child friendly, hands on activities for students. However, these activities require colorful clip art in order to appear more realistic to students. Many of the students in my class have a disability or have English as a Second Language. The more concrete and realistic the representation, the better the understanding.
