My Students

My students are transitioning from elementary school to middle school, and they are eager for more independence. These printers let them navigate the steps of the writing process with...or without me.

My 6th graders have attitude, but not the kind you'd expect from middle schoolers.

Their attitude is that of winners, the kinds of people that set goals, work hard to achieve and exceed them, and relish the thought of being able to show what they are able to do. All of the hard work they've done in 5th grade has prepared them for the challenges of middle school, and they are ready!

My Project

As a school, we follow the 6 traits of writing, and as such, not all students will arrive at the same stage of writing assignments at the same time. The printers and accompanying materials will offer students the opportunity to complete their writing assignments at their own pace within the assignment timeline. Students will experience the joy of self-publishing and effective uses of technology within our classroom. It will also serve as a resource for other class projects, as the printers have photo printing capabilities.

The satisfaction of a job completed and well done is something that my students will be able to share with each other within our classroom because of these materials.

The collaboration that will come from helping each other learn how to use the materials and the independence and self-initiative will foster valuable skills that they will be able to use as college students, employees, and leaders in the future.
