My students need to have access to a printer in the classroom. I would be able to print samples of student work to model for other students when editing their writing samples.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In my classroom, I want to create lifelong learners. My students come into the classroom everyday with excitement to learn something new. They come from low income families who struggle with providing the essentials such a warm meal. Their enthusiasm for learning is contagious . About 90% of the students at our school receive free or reduced meals.
My students are eager to learn and absorb the information presented to them.
I believe I am teaching future leaders of tomorrow.
My Project
Throughout the school year there are several times within the school day in which my students would benefit from having a copier in the classroom, but instead the moment is lost. Working in Chicago Public Schools, resources are limited. My entire team of teachers shares one printer, which isn't even located my classroom.
Learning opportunities are missed throughout the day due to a lack of resources in the classroom.
I would like to be able to print in my classroom in order to distribute writing graphic organizers when needed. Students would benefit from photocopies of their classmates' work when revising their own writing samples. There have been times in my classroom in which a student has misplaced an article and is not able to participate in the lesson due to a lack of a printer in the classroom.
As a teacher of writing, I would prefer to spend more of my time planning for best practice instruction, instead of waiting in line at the shared printer. This donation would bring resources into the classroom, allow for flexibility in terms of deliver of instruction, and ensure all students can participate in the class when handouts are involved in the lesson.
