Our students are special in so many ways. Our students are educated in the Special Education self-contained setting. They are fun loving and inquisitive. They enjoy life and appreciate the simpler things in life. They are often the examples to the General Education students as to how to behave in school. Our students also have deficits in learning that require them to be in an educational setting that is adapted to their individual learning needs. Like the Gen Ed population, our students attend different classes, but within the self contained setting. These classes include Math, Social Social Studies and Science. Our students also work on their reading and writing skills in their respective homerooms. In addition to learning academics, our students participate in an Art class, a Spanish Class, and a PE class that are adapted for their particular needs. They also participate in Community Based Training to develop potential job skills and functional life skills.
Several different kinds of resources are used to support their learning needs.
These include printed materials, manipulatives, learning games, books, visuals, technology, and more. It is a pleasure working with these students!
My Project
Having a printer in your classroom takes the hassle out of preparations for learning; but having a printer is pointless without an ink cartridge! The basic reason we are asking for funding for printer cartridges is that our school is no longer supplying printer cartridges for our classroom printers.
In our school, it is essential to have a printer in your classroom.
While it is true that we have larger printers throughout the school to accommodate printing; sending documents to the larger printers from our classroom computers can be a big hassle! First, it is time consuming. Second, there are many opportunities for all kinds of glitches, which takes time away from other important tasks in learning preparation. Third, it is more work. For example, you may have to wait in line to get your printed material or materials from the printer/copier. This potentially takes valuable time away from the students that could be used in instruction. Having the cartridges for our printer will make preparations for a learning environment so much easier. Everything will be at our fingertips to print right from the printer. From there, we will be able to take our copy and print multiple copies of the needed materials on the larger copier/printer ourselves.
In addition to using our printer for instructional materials, we also use it to generate color sheets for our students. They use these sheets for various purposes. Some of them are used for purely artistic purposes. Others are used to help decorate lockers and work folders.
Lastly, our classroom printers provide needed hard copies of documentation and help keep confidential documents safe.
