My Students
It was a challenge for my students to be engaged as they learned in a brick and motor setting to now having to learn remotely so abruptly without notice. It has placed undue hardship on my students and families as they navigate the remote learning process with limited supplies, materials and resources to become successful. I currently use resources from the NYC DOE but sometimes I have to modify them in order to meet the needs of all the students. Many of the students come from low-income communities with daily challenges and now having to deal with this unprecedented time is daunting as they express fear of the unknown. They are faced with trauma, the loss of loved ones, lack of food and essential supplies to get by, and now having to cope with not being able to actively and physical play with their friends is frustrating. This, coupled with the lack of academic materials to continue to learn at home continues to present a challenge. At this point, my students are stressed and have expressed sadness as a result of this pandemic. Help me to help my students continue to grow as they prepare for their next grade.
My Project
No crisis or natural disaster will hinder the progress of my students. As such, with the help of ready-made, printed educational materials from some of the reputable vendors like Teachers Pay Teachers will help me to make the remote learning process as seamless as possible, as they continue to create well-crafted engaging materials. I want to be able to provide my students with the necessary educational activities, posters, task cards and other learning materials that will accelerate their learning. Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) is at the core of providing rigorous, meaningful, and engaging instructional materials that can easily be uploaded to google classroom to engage all learners. Having ready-made materials will allow me to focus more on the instructional aspect of their learning via videoconferencing instead of spending so much time on reinventing the wheel. Having the ability to print and upload the TPT materials will ensure ease of access by the students.
