My students need picture books to help them with science research and narrative writing. With these books, students will find joy in the words and the pictures. Imagine, explore, research with the love of books.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am at a school in which about two thirds of the students are from low income households.
There are about 150 third graders and although I have my own class of students, I also get to teach many of the third grade students when they come to my classroom for ESL and in depth rotation classes that are focused on science concepts.
The students are eager and excited to learn and share their ideas and thinking.
My Project
These picture books will grab the imagination, interest, and increase students desire to pick up a book and read. I want my students to be surrounded by books that peak their interest in a subject and enable them to use these books to strengthen their reading and writing skills. Most of all, I want students to develop a love of learning and reading. It is my goal to inspire students to be life long learners and to find joy in turning each page to find out what happens next. The best learning environments are print rich environments with lots of opportunities to pick up a book.
