This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty community, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. This school has definitely been a challenge when it comes to creating class/homework pages. I am so excited to be able to begin a new school year with children, some who have never been to school before.

It is such a good feeling to know, as their teacher, that I have helped a student unlock something that they find meaningful and are excited to share.

My Project

This year I will be working with Kindergarteners. I am so excited to be working with this little ones. For a lot of them, this will be their first school experience. I want to be able to teach them as much as I can so that they will be successful in grades to come. Kindergarten is the foundation for their learning experience. Unfortunately, a lot of the resources that they need are not available to them due to circumstances beyond their control. One item that we desperately need is a printer. We as teachers often have to wait in line to make copies or make requests for the office.

As a result, copies are not always done and it becomes a disservice when parents are wondering why there is no homework for the day or week.

Funding for my classroom would help me provide the necessary supplies for my students, which in turn will assist them in reaching their goals for the school year. Thanks so much!

I would like to purchase a printer/copier that I may use in the classroom for the purpose of making homework packets and worksheets for classroom centers, etc. I also would like to purchase Language Arts workbooks, manipulative, and materials to create projects that foster learning. Students learn best with hands on materials. Thanks Again!!
