Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach high school students with disabilities in a public school in California. My students are kind, curious, and resilient. They face a range of challenges and they work hard every day to overcome barriers and access grade-level content.
Many come from under-resourced communities and are students of color.
Their identities and needs are often overlooked in traditional classrooms. My goal is to provide them with the support they need to succeed and to affirm that their voices, experiences, and learning styles matter.
I’m requesting toner cartridges for our classroom printer. Printed materials are critical for my students: individualized worksheets, visual supports, scaffolded texts, and step-by-step guides that help them engage deeply with content. Whether it’s modifying a U.S. History reading to highlight diverse voices or providing step-by-step math instructions with visual aids, printing makes learning accessible.
Without toner, we lose a key tool in delivering equitable instruction. My students benefit from tangible, printed resources they can annotate, review, and take with them—especially when digital access or reading stamina is limited.
This project supports Racial Justice & Representation by ensuring that high school students with disabilities—many of whom come from historically marginalized communities—have access to inclusive and culturally responsive materials. It’s about equity. It's about giving every student the tools they need to thrive.
