This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Have you ever learned a new concept or word by looking at a picture? My students deserve quality visuals, printed in color, in order to access and increase their English proficiency. It’s so much more impactful to learn new vocabulary words when provided with a color picture. This is why I am requesting a Brother, wireless, color copy/scanner/printer for our classroom.

Color coding is a research-based method to help students identify parts of speech, which is essential when acquiring a new language.

Not only could we print pictures in color to introduce new vocabulary, but we could also use a color printer to provide color-coded sentence frames which help students become better writers. Our current method of using markers to “color code” our black and white printed copies, is not the best use of our time.

Our current printing access is primarily black-and-white. We need to get special permission to use the district-provided, color printers, which takes a lot of advance planning and hoping our requests will be approved. I assure you by donating to this project you would be helping close to 180 students who are acquiring English in my school.
