This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help my students benefit from the wonders of hands-on science activities.
In our school district budget cuts have made it a challenge for teachers to continue to provide materials that are so advantageous for our primary students. My students are eager to learn and explore the wonders of science.
I am requesting these materials for my class of 26 students.
They never cease to amaze me! When provided with supported curriculum materials these first graders can achieve great success. When I teach science I tie my lessons to other subject areas. In my class students learn how to: make predictions; proper observation techniques, and how to record the data they collect.
My Project
This hands-on science approach really gets them writing and loving it too! Now that Spring has arrived I want to start a unit on plants and growing. I found just what my students need. Watch and grow plant kits, plant theme boxes and science journals. These materials have the visual and hands on learning opportunities that support my students. I can just see them coming into class every day and immediately running to their plant to check how much it grew.
I know the students will be so proud to have their very own science journal and fill it with information about their plant.
I am confident this project a great vehicle for making learning science fun and exciting for very young students.
