Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are EXHAUSTING (I mean that in the best possible way).They are hungry, they are motivated, they are talented, and they are inspirational. Unfortunately, the system we are in does not have the resources to meet their needs and their interests.
What keeps me ENERGIZED is their resiliency and their perseverance to make the best of each day.I am inspired daily to keep pushing and look for every possible opportunity to give them what they deserve: The best possible music education.
Their interests and willingness to expand the bounds of music education in our city brings me to DonorsChoose. They say it takes a village, but when that village is struggling, we look for others to lend a helping hand.
I can't sum up who my students are with words. It would not do justice to them. What I can do is share the love, the respect, and the care I have for them. With your help, I can provide the opportunities that they deserve.
My Project
As our band continues to grow, we need to cycle materials and supplies that get worn out and need replacement. Just like a car, preventative maintenance goes a long way to preserving the over quality of an instrument. Our students work hard and use the instruments as intended, this is a project that aims to keep our instruments in the best possible shape so students can continue to grow their skills and preserve the instruments long beyond their tenure at our school. Many times, an instrument is prone to failure if these parts and accessories are not updated, so this is a great opportunity to prevent a disaster from occurring!
