Preteen Hygiene Corner Restock

Help me give my students health and hygiene staples. For 10-12-year-olds with changing bodies, personal hygiene is a topic of curiosity and worry. This hygiene drawer ties in with our units on identity and building community.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Olson's classroom raised $180

My Project

With these materials, I’ll restock a self-care hygiene drawer for my 5th and 6th-grade classes. The original project was funded by another Donors Choose project, and the restocking of the supplies, like the requested toothbrushes, deodorant, and lotion, will help promote a positive classroom culture around hygiene, trying new things, and building communities where we help each other.

Teaching hygiene is essential for helping students feel confident in their bodies and schools.

Our first units in English focus on identity and community, tackling questions about insecurity, trust, independence, and creating healthy relationships with others. This provides an opportunity for students who are shy to ask their parents or teachers for help directly, but feel curious and comfortable using resources made available to them. It also helps teach kindness to ourselves and others while we learn new practical skills.

My students are so thoughtful, kind, and considerate, and I want nothing more than for them to feel safe and comfortable as they explore their identities and worlds. Let’s help them start their middle school experiences with confidence!

Additionally, as a donation project, students will learn that all of these products were donated by people who care about helping them and the importance of community service.
