Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 34 self-contained high school students.

We reside in a Title I school, which means there is very little funding, yet we have such a high need for supplies!

My students are all amazing, unique, loving and energetic humans! They are vibrant and brave, active and creative. My students have a variety of diagnoses including but not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, ED, Down Syndrome, LD, and multiple disabilities. I have verbal students as well as nonverbal students. All of my students have difficulty with communication skills, social skills, and struggle to process sensory information.

Our class is bare and supplies are minimal. My students deserve the best, and at the very least deserve the items deemed necessary to help them self-regulate, de-stress and provide imperative sensory stimulation.

My Project

My students are each unique and extremely creative. The Cricut Mug Press and engraving tools will help my students expand their imaginations while able to contribute to making their own classroom come to life. My students are beyond creative. I have found that students enjoy learning when they feel pride in what they are using.

The Cricut MugPress and engraving tools would allow us to create our designs onto mugs, coasters and aluminum sheets to create a personalized learning space.

This will help the students see they really can make their visions a reality.

My students have been working hard to bring their creativity to life by making their own personalized materials to work with, have been designing bulletin boards in our group, can make their own personalized manipulatives, help us create items for our annual fundraiser for our class to purchase more desperately needed supplies, and last but most certainly not least… can create individualized identifiers for any trips we take – be it down the hall or across town (ie: shirts, lanyards, etc) – so they do not get lost from the group. The Cricut MugPress will be an amazing tool for our entire classroom and will help us gain the skill to create our own unique and individualized fundraiser so they can earn a fabulous class trip!
