My Project

I teach a class of bright, curious 4K students at a Title I school where many of our children face economic challenges that can impact their early learning experiences. Despite their circumstances, these young learners come to school each day full of energy, excitement, and a thirst for knowledge.

Many of my students don’t have access to books at home or the opportunity to be read to regularly.

This can put them at a disadvantage when it comes to developing foundational literacy skills such as listening comprehension, vocabulary, and a love of stories—skills that are critical for future reading success.

That’s why I’m asking for your help in bringing a Toniebox and a collection of Tonie figurines into our classroom.

The Toniebox is a screen-free audio player designed for young children. It uses small, child-friendly figurines—called Tonies—that are preloaded with songs, stories, and educational content. When a child places a Tonie on the box, it begins to play. It’s that simple—and magical.

In our classroom, the Toniebox will:

*Encourage independent listening; allowing students to explore stories and music at their own pace.

*Support language and literacy development through repeated exposure to spoken words, rhymes, and stories.

*Give students a chance to hear rich, high-quality audio content.

This tool will be especially powerful for students who are English Language Learners or who don’t have access to books at home. It will help level the playing field by giving them access to audio stories that build listening skills, vocabulary, and imagination.

By donating to this project, you’re helping to create a classroom where every child can fall in love with stories, even if they’ve never owned a book of their own. Your support will give them a voice, a story, and a chance to believe that learning is joyful—and meant for them.
