Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Dr. Cooper Kirk, Broward County's first historian and social studies teacher, once said, “History is everything that happens in a community.” In spite of the demands of social distancing, I want my students to learn about local history by experiencing it for themselves through research, and oral history.
My students are AWESOME, hardworking, and motivated to learn.
I teach a diverse student population of students from 30 different countries, speaking 10 different languages.
My Project
Our community outreach projects often motivate people to share photographs and other ephemera with us. This scanner will allow the students to scan the documents and use this scans to preserve school and local history. As the teacher, I will use the scanned materials to create meaningful and personalized exams.
My students don't just want to learn about history, they want to have a role in preserving it for future generations.
This scanner will allow students to have a hands on experience in preserving and protecting school and local history.
