Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in Oklahoma City, OK. Our students are predominantly Hispanic. Their resources are limited, with 100% of them qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. They come from low-income neighborhoods in the South side of Oklahoma City area. Our public elementary school needs a variety of learning opportunities for quality engagement, challenge, and motivation in order to best function. We know supporting our students in this stage of their development can be a turning point for our students. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) plays a big part in education that empowers our students to believe in themselves and give them the freedom to dream.

My Project

Having immediate access to a laminator will help my students preserve what they are learning in school. This laminator would allow me to make math charts, have class sets of worksheets for small group work, create hall passes and so many other things. This project will give me the opportunity to laminate without having to disturb our incredibly busy media specialist or joining our waiting list for small projects. My focus mainly with this project is to give the students quality study material to bring back and forth from school to home. I absolutely know this laminator will give my students the access to the rigorous education they need and deserve.
